- Mitsitoyo LH 600 Height gage
Linear Height Gauge LH-600 High Performance 2D Measurement System, SPC Output, 24kg Mass 0-24" or 600 mm max height model# 518-331A-21 std. specs below -please verify Measurement range of 0 to 24 inches (0 to 600 mm), with selectable resolution to 0.000001" (0.0001 mm) Graphic LCD digital readout with backlighting and keypad provides statistical functions for data analysis Air-cushion with adjustable height for movement or measurement supports rapid inspection Motorized drive for ease of vertical probe positioning Statistical process control (SPC) output to transmit results to a Mitutoyo miniprocessor or computer
The Mitutoyo 518-341A-21 LH-600D linear height gauge is a high-performance 2D measurement system with a measurement range 0 to 24 inches (0 to 600 mm), a backlit, graphic LCD digital readout with keypad, selectable resolution to 0.000001” (0.0001 mm), and statistical functions for data analysis. The unit has data outputs to transmit results to a Mitutoyo miniprocessor or computer for statistical process control (SPC), output to a receipt printer, and input for data entry from a Mitutoyo Digimatic tool. The gauge is accurate to + or - 0.000043+0.00024L/24” (0.0011+0.006L/6 mm) at 20 degrees C, where L is the range travelled from the base position in inches (mm).
This height gauge has an air-cushion with an adjustable height using a pneumatic floating system for unit movement or measurement. A motorized drive supports even, precise travel on the beam in continuous mode, or in 5 mm, 10 mm, 15 mm, 20 mm, 25 mm, 30 mm, or 40 mm steps, with adjustable speed up to 40 mm per second, while an electrostatic capacitance linear encoder helps prevent overspeed errors which helps ensure repeatable, precise measurement. The 5-mm diameter eccentric electronic touch-signal probe supports precise digital measurement with triggering in both up and down directions. The height gauge supports a measuring force to 1 newton. Mitutoyo guarantees frontal perpendicularity of 6 microns and straightness of 4 microns.
The electronic microprocessor provides advanced program functions that include measuring the height of an upward- or downward-facing surface, the diameter and center of a hole or shaft, the width and center of an inner or outer diameter, the minimum or maximum height of an upward- or downward-facing surface and the distance between them, and the width and center position between two elements. Additionally, the electronic controls provide the ability to set the absolute reference point (ABS), an offset to the ABS, an incremental origin point (INC) at any position, and to switch ABS and INC origin. Functions for 2D measurement include rotation and translation of coordinate axes, coordinate storage, and intersection-angle calculation. The unit may be programmed to compensate for the diameter of the probe tip, to set nominal values for an out-of-tolerance warning, and has a memory capacity for 50 measuring programs and 60,000 measurement data points. A sealed keypad has function keys for operation and alpha-numeric keys for user-entered data. The graphical LCD digital readout has a 320 x 240 dot resolution with an LED backlight, and displays statistical functions and histograms. It can display in English, German, French, Spanish, Italian or Japanese, and can display measurements in inches or metric units.
Output ports transmit results to a Mitutoyo miniprocessor or computer through an interface cable (not included) for SPC, or through alternate RS-232C or USB ports. An output port transmits reports to a receipt printer (not included) or a commercially available A4-size printer. The unit can also store and retrieve results to/from a floppy disk drive (not included). The unit comes with a rechargeable nickel-metal hydride (Ni-MH) battery pack, an AC adapter, a probe diameter calibration block, a clear cover, and a conveyance handle. The height gauge weighs 52.9 lbs (24 kg).
Height gauges, also called gages, are precision measuring instruments that travel on a vertical column (also called the beam) to measure and/or mark the vertical distance from the base of an object in fine units. The vertical position of the gauge and its attached pointer are changed by turning a calibrated screw, or one or more feed wheels. Recorded rotations are read from a scale, a dial, counters, and/or an electronic display. A screw clamp holds an electronic touch-signal probe to the gauge. On compatible units, the probe may be replaced by a pointer that is typically sharpened to act as a scriber, and can be used to mark position on a workpiece by scratching its surface. Height gauges are typically used in manufacturing, machining, and mechanical engineering.
Mitutoyo manufactures precision measuring tools, metrology equipment, and systems. The company was founded in Tokyo in 1934 and formed Mitutoyo America Corporation in 1963, which is headquartered in Aurora, IL.
