    The web thickness of a drill increases
    as
    the
    drill is re-sharpened. If the drills
    are not
    too badly worn when they come to the
    cutter
    grind department for resharpening, you
    can
    generally get 3 or 4 resharpenings to
    each
    thinning operation. Proper web
    thinning will
    reduce the amount of torque required
    for the drilling job. Also, the reduction in end
    pressure will cause less damage to the
    chisel
    angle area of the drill point.
